NEURODISTINCT, INVISIBLY DISABLED, AND CHRONICALLY ILL EMPLOYEES:

Are you ready to ditch the feeling of being completely alone at work and finally be a part of a community who gets you?

DOES ANY OF THIS sound like you?

  • Are you lonely at work and feel like no one truly understands what you’re going through?

  • Are you frustrated that, sometimes, it feels like your supervisor or coworkers don’t seem to understand you, yet you’re not comfortable to say anything?

  • Have you been wondering how you can advocate for yourself and your peers without feeling like you're stepping out of line?

  • Do you feel that there’s a disconnect somewhere in your team, causing tension, and that you’re not all on the same page?

  • Do you feel overwhelmed by your to-do list, and find yourself resentful about tasks and other nuances of the day even when you’re not at work?

imagine…

  • Being part of a supportive community of other people who really “get” you, feeling validated and hopeful that you can inspire change in your workplace together.

  • Fostering inclusive channels of communication with your team that allow you each to feel safe to speak up and share your perspective, claiming ownership of your unique experiences and contribution to the team.

  • Gracefully advocating for yourself and your team, so that everyone feels seen, understood, and connected.

  • Celebrating the inclusion of people with different viewpoints, ways of thinking, skill sets, and abilities, bringing your team together as a united group.

  • Having skills to center and ground yourself, releasing stress and increasing productivity. Imagine finishing the day feeling valued and accomplished, with energy left over to enjoy life outside of work.

It’s time to ditch treating your condition as something to be ashamed of, and finally feel like you belong somewhere and that your voice is meant to be heard, so you can start feeling confident and supported at work.

Because when it comes to you, you are an amazing person with unique skills and talents meant to be celebrated. It’s time to show your full self at work.

This is a good fit for you if…

  • You identify as neurodistinct/neurodivergent, invisibly disabled, or chronically ill. Diagnosis isn’t necessary (we know how difficult they can be!)

  • You work in a mission-driven organization, but don’t feel the connection between the mission and your team culture.

  • You can commit to attending the support group on a regular basis, so you build strong connections with peers who are going through similar experiences.

  • You understand the importance of respecting yourself, the group, and confidentiality of group members.

  • You’re committed to challenging yourself to change the way you communicate at work, while being kind to yourself in the process.

this is not a good fit for you if…

  • You want a quick and easy fix to solving your team’s cultural problems

    • Spoiler alert - this doesn’t exist.

  • You are not currently working or are in between jobs.

  • You are a solopreneur and/or don’t have coworkers.

FAQs

01.

I am a stay-at-home mom and my kid is disabled/neurodistinct/chronically ill. Is this for me?

No. While I FULLY agree that being a stay-at-home mom is more than a full-time job, this is not the type of support for you. We focus on managing relationships with coworkers, which wouldn’t be applicable to you. I encourage you to find a group specific to parents with neurodistinct/disabled/ill children.

02.

I am in between jobs and want to prepare communication and self-advocacy (interview) skills for my next job. Is this for me?

No. This group will not focus on interview skills and is specifically designed to support people who are currently part of a work team. I encourage you to visit chronicallycapable.org, ndcc.simplyhire.com, or a local recruiter that helps people with your condition develop skills for employment.

03.

I am not currently working, but I could really use support in managing my time and energy. Is this for me?

No. While I absolutely would love to support you, we’ll be focusing on time and energy management as it relates specifically to the workplace. I encourage you to find another program that is better suited for you.

04.

Where/when are the support group sessions held?

The support group sessions are virtual, so that you can learn from and connect with people coming from different companies, industries, and time zones. Group sessions are the 4th Wednesday of every month from 12-1pm MST.

05.

I’m not available during the support group time. Is there another offering outside of normal work hours?

At this time, there is not. We chose this time hoping that most people would be able to join over their lunch hour. If you would like an email template to request this time off from your employer, please reach out to jenn@theworkingwell.us and I’d be happy to provide one for you. To request an additional group time offering, please email me at jenn@theworkingwell.us and let me know when works best for you. If there is enough interest, we will open up another support group time.

06.

i want to attend the group, but i’m worried someone from my company will find out.

In order to be a part of the group, all members must agree to keep identifying information in the group confidential. I understand it can feel shameful or embarrassing to “out” yourself, and I also have experienced that it can be incredibly nourishing to connect with a supportive person in your company about these silent struggles. We hope that your attendance will give you the confidence you need to share your needs openly with your supervisor and peers at work, although we will never pressure you to do so.

07.

i want to attend the group, but what if someone else from my company is in it? won’t that be awkward?

Actually, that would be an amazing opportunity to connect with your coworker on a new and unique human level. When we remove our titles and meet each other on this personal level, we’re able to understand each other’s needs and support each other better in the workplace. It would be great to get an ally in your company from attending this group together. Of course, if this makes you uncomfortable, please reach out and we’ll discuss alternative options.

08.

is this for managers or employees?

This group is for everyone. No matter what your title is, you’re a person, and all people need support. It would be great if you attended this group with people of all titles from your organization.

09.

when will support group plus be available?

A combination of two factors: when there is enough interest shown (join the waitlist to show me you want it!) and when the resource library is adequate enough to make it worth your while.

wondering if it’s a fit?

Don’t wait until your next job to feel supported at work.
It’s time you get connected with people who get you, while getting support on how to advocate for yourself and communicate your needs.

Set up a free call, or try coming to a meeting, so we can discover together if the support group is right for you.
